SAHFA president Laetitia van Haren has just returned from a mission to Tanzania where she first met our new legal adviser Vanessa Njunwa Hildephonce in Dar es Salaam, and together they visited DiHA, the software team that takes over the JamboMama! app development and maintenance. They then traveled together to our partner in Mwanza region, a well functioning district hospital, to discuss our partnership anew in light of IT service team changes.
The developer and Laetitia went to SAHFA’s interested partner in the Mwanza region together to present his app as far as he had come. The medics and the new IT team must now build up a direct relationship around the app, key to sustainability which depends on full localisation.
In Dar es Salaam, Laetitia met with the gender equality and social change officer of Caritas. They discussed rural women’s empowerment and their need for safer, better understood pregnancies for their well-being and participation in development. They shall touch base again after the elections have taken place, to have the women that are now being trained as politico-social leaders use the app in their community health promotion work.
