SAHFA president on mission to Congo in October

Security and sanitary conditions permitting, SAHFA-president Laetitia van Haren intends to visit our new SAHFA-Congo association in RD Congo in the first half of October. She will meet Angélique Mayele, coordinator, and Dr Christelle Bongo, president of SAHFA-Congo in person, while Dr. Bomby Kabongo will make himself available virtually. They will work out a strategy and discuss practical issues to make the Itere Mbang maternity clinic in Kalo, Kwilu province, operational soonest.

Digital support is to be integrated in the service plan from the start, even if we must allow it plenty of time to develop. SAHFA-Congo will also need their own home grown app builder, midwife, business developer and web administrator. This is one of the challenges to look into during my mission.

We appeal to all of you to help us procure the renewable items needed to start a maternity service in a very poor remote area: such as lengths of cloth for sheets, diapers etc., sterile gloves, disinfection and cleaning materials, portable solar lights, etc… We also want to bring two smartphones with the JamboMama! app uploaded on it in French.

To help us buy the renewables needed to start, use the form on HelloAsso or make a direct transfer using the account information below this article. Please mention: Get maternity at Itere Mbang ready for pregnancy, delivery and postpartum care.
